Dubrovnik Airport to Old Town: Distance, Time & Transfer Options

Dubrovnik Airport to Old Town: Distance, Time & Transfer Options

If you’re flying into Dubrovnik for the first time, the airport itself can be confusing before you’ve even left the terminal — it was recently renamed, it’s further from the city than most visitors expect, and there are several very different ways to get to your hotel. Here’s what you actually need to know.

Dubrovnik Airport is now “Ruđer Bošković Airport”

Dubrovnik Airport was officially renamed Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport, after the 18th-century Croatian scientist. You’ll still see it signposted and sold as “Dubrovnik Airport” almost everywhere, and locals call it Čilipi Airport, after the village it sits in — all three names refer to the same place. Its codes are DBV (IATA) and LDDU (ICAO).

How far is the airport from Dubrovnik Old Town?

About 15.5 km (9.5 miles) south-east of the Old Town. A private transfer takes roughly 25–30 minutes depending on traffic, which picks up noticeably around midday in July and August.

Your options for getting into town

  • Private transfer — booked in advance, fixed price, a driver waiting at arrivals with your name. No queue, no shared stops.
  • Shared shuttle bus — cheaper per person, but it waits to fill up and stops at multiple hotels before yours.
  • Taxi rank — available outside arrivals, but prices aren’t always fixed in advance and can vary by driver.

For families, groups with luggage, or anyone landing late at night, a pre-booked private transfer is the most predictable option: you know the price before you fly, and your driver tracks your flight number in case it’s delayed.

What it costs

A private transfer from Dubrovnik Airport to the Old Town or Dubrovnik hotels currently starts at €45 for 1–2 passengers, with a fixed rate for larger groups shown on the route page. Booking tip

Send your flight number when you book, not just your arrival time. Flights into Dubrovnik are sometimes delayed by an hour or more in peak season, and a driver working from your flight number will adjust automatically — no extra charge, no waiting around at the curb.
